Cleethorpes-Grimsby The section of the South TPE line from Cleethorpes to Grimsby is quite different to the others.
mainly single track throughout,
although there are some passengers from Cleethorpes who
travel beyond Grimsby - the majority of passengers using this section of line are actually only
making the 5 minute journey from Cleethorpes to Grimsby (or vice versa), this is probably because
the train is by far the quickest way of getting between the two towns, it even beats road!
There are two stations between Grimsby Town and Cleethorpes, these are Grimsby Docks and
New Clee, both are very underused and served by the Cleethorpes-Barton on Humber train every
two hours. No South TPE trains stop at Grimsby Docks or New Clee, although initial runs with the
class 185 number 185107 revealed that the trains do have these stations in their announcement
system, as for the first couple of months, 185107 always said 'Grimsby Docks'
when it meant 'Grimsby Town'!
South TPE trains cover the 3 miles 22 chains between Grimsby Town and Cleethorpes in 7 minutes,
an average speed of 26 miles per hour.
